"The real babes were enough alike to deceive their own mother at a little distance, so that she could not tell one from another, and would call either name. Sometimes the answer would be: 'Dat Margie, me May!' or again it was: 'No May; me Margie!' And when she attempted reproof, she would usually find she was administering it to the wrong child."
